Salt Dough Decoration

This is an amazingly cheap and effective way of making tree decorations ora collection of designs could be given as small Christmas presents. The recipe is simple mix 2 cups of all purpose flour, 1 cup of water, 1 cup of salt. Knead into a smooth ball and roll out until about 1/4 inches thick, and use assorted cookie cutter shapes, using a toothpick to pierce a small hole for the ribbon. Laying shapes on an ungreased baking tray. Heat oven to 120c and bake for 2 hours (it seems like a while but it makes sure that the dough becomes really hard and should ensure your decorations last a very long time). Take out an leave to cool.

You can then paint your decorations if you wish, i have used acrylic paints to get a really vibrant colour. Find some lovely thin ribbon, using a darning needle thread through the hole and cut to desired length. That’s it wonderful decorations!
